Helping UK homes and businesses find solar installers they can trust

Solar Panel Comparison is a free service that matches you with vetted, MCS-certified solar and battery installers covering your area. It is run by The Lead Advisory Company, which has been connecting customers with trusted installers since 2005.

  • Free to use, no obligation
  • MCS-certified installers only
  • UK business since 2005

What we do

Buying solar is a big decision, and the quotes can be hard to compare. We make the first step simple: tell us about your property once and we pass your enquiry to up to three installers who work in your area and suit the job, so you can compare like for like.

We cover residential solar panels and battery storage, adding a battery to panels you already have, and commercial systems for offices, factories, warehouses, farms, property portfolios and public sector buildings.

Our approach to prices

The prices on this site are guide prices: typical installed ranges for each system size, so you know roughly what to expect before you talk to anyone.

They are not quotes. Every roof is different, so your installer will check yours and give you a fixed written price. Our area pages work out generation for your location from MCS data, so savings figures reflect where you live rather than a national average.

How it works

  1. Tell us about your property

A few questions about your home or building, your roof and what you want: panels, a battery, or both.

  2. We match you with installers

Up to three MCS-certified installers who cover your postcode. We email you to confirm who they are.

  3. Compare your quotes

Each installer surveys and quotes. Compare them side by side and only go ahead if one is right for you.

Trust & safety

What ‘vetted’ means

We don’t pass your enquiry to just anyone. Before an installer receives enquiries through us, we check three things.

  1. Relevant insurance

Public liability cover for working at height and on your home, so you are not left exposed if something is damaged during the install.

  2. MCS certification

Every installer is MCS certified for solar PV and battery storage. MCS also requires its installers to belong to a consumer code approved by Trading Standards, such as RECC or HIES, which gives you a formal route to resolve a complaint.

  3. Warranty and cover

A written workmanship warranty on the installation, on top of the manufacturers’ warranties on the panels, inverter and battery.
